Members of Operating Engineers Local 501 have entrusted their union with
broad and essential responsibilities. For any union to remain strong, it must service its
members promptly and efficiently. But more than this, the union must maintain appropriate
and effective relations with employers.
While Local 501 will cooperate with management
to solve workplace problems, employers must recognize the union as an organized and
powerful voice for workers. Only by continually demonstrating our control of the labor
market, can Local 501 maintain the leverage to negotiate and enforce good contracts and
protect workers' rights.
Local 501 members have a sincere dedication to training and a commitment to do the best
job possible for their employer and fellow members.
